The newly built house where our shop is located, has a very contemporary feel to it, with its minimalistic design, black paint, breeze block walls and polished concrete floors. It was important for us to embrace those elements, giving us the opportunity to make an unordinary vintage shop with a minimalistic and industrial feel to it. Just when the shop was about to open and we started looking for shelving units and storage we discovered a big set of metalwork, which was originally custom made for the infamous Mary Quant shop in Soho!Welsh born designer Mary Quant was one of the most influential designers of the "swinging sixties" and is often credited for being the designer that invented the miniskirt and hotpants, which became two massively iconic garments of the 60's style
After opening her first two shops during the late 50's, both called Baazar, she opened another in the coolest destination associated with the Swinging London of the 1960's, Carnaby Street. Where the shop was open for more almost three decades until it closed down. All the shelving and metal works from the shop where then put in storage and left there for over twenty years until we found it for sale and came to the conclusion that it would be perfect for our shop! To have everything from rails to display cabinets from such a iconic 1960's designers shop that still had a timeless and contemporary feel to it, we were able to find a strong connection with not only the concept we wanted for the shop but what we sell; unique and timeless vintage clothing and the fascination of fashion history.
